Noodle bowls for Danielle and Luke…

These bowls were commissioned as a gift for Danielle, who is Vegan, and her partner Luke. Both cook a lot of noodle / ramen type dishes so these generous bowls were perfect.

To offer greater flexibility, two of the bowls have bespoke noodle rest grooves.

The glaze was a real labour of love. We were looking for an earthy, natural finish on the outer sides but something that pooled inside. I wanted to avoid the two finishes becoming too seperate and conflicting with each other so the intensity of the gloss finish on the inner bowls couldn’t be too high - it had to partner with the matt sandstone.

The result was this beautiful and unusual semi-gloss glaze inside- that fell and created subtle crystals whilst pulling some of the matt sandstone down from the rims and breaking into a stunning blue.
